Research Systems - Solera Use Case
Working alongside the Research team at Solera, I played a key role in creating the Research System. We developed a microsite where key stakeholders across the company could access critical information. Solera is a large company with dozens of projects spanning over 80 countries, yet at that time, we only had two researchers. We needed a knowledge hub to ensure that research would not become a bottleneck for any project. Through this site, stakeholders could:
Request a new research project
Access actionable insights from previous projects
Find key data and quotes from studies to use in their documentation
Access templates and how-to guides for research methods if they needed to conduct research without direct support from a researcher
MVP Testing
We started with a simple MVP (Minimum Viable Product) by setting up a folder system in SharePoint. Each project was organized into a structured folder, with templates for all data-gathering methods. All researchers used consistent templates for note-taking and shared them with stakeholders observing the study.
Evolving the System
Once stakeholders became accustomed to using templates and a centralized location for information, we expanded to a more robust microsite. It was essential to build a knowledge hub where stakeholders could quickly find key insights, even if a researcher was unavailable. This system also allowed stakeholders to access insights from studies conducted by other teams, helping to avoid duplicating efforts—a common issue in large corporations. This ensured that important information remained accessible, reliable, and useful at all times.
Our guiding principles were to make critical information recoverable, accessible, actionable, traceable and secure
With the help of our design team, we branded the system "UX Bridge," reflecting our belief that research serves as a bridge between stakeholders and users.
